Our FY24 Ignite Pride Grants recipients!

Aurora is proud to partner with 8 grassroots community organisations to deliver projects that will support and celebrate LGBTIQ+ communities across Australia. 

Once again, this round of Ignite Pride grants has been boosted thanks to our partnerships with Pride Foundation Australia and SpencerMaurice, which have enabled us to deliver additional targeted grants focused on mental health, and regional LGBTIQ+ communities.

Your Ignite Pride Fund X Pride Foundation Australia Grantee is: Outloud Inc.’s Muslim Peers Project - who provide support to queer and trans youth from Muslim and CALD backgrounds by providing culturally inclusive and queer/gender-affirming peer support, counselling, mentoring and art-based therapeutic interventions - $20k

Your Ignite Pride Fund X SpencerMaurice Grantee is: Lake Macquarie and Newcastle Suicide Prevention Network - for their Windows of Hope & Support project that provides individualised support to LGBTIQ+ community members in the Lake Macquarie and Newcastle region, ensuring they get the support they need - $20k

Your New Ignite Pride Grantees Are:

Illawarra Shoalhaven Gender Alliance 
For their Trans and Friends Festival which has been identified as focusing on older people including reducing isolation, healthy trans aging, transitions into aged care, dealing with illness and transitioning later in life- $6,000.

Mountains Youth Services Team
For their Youth LGBTIQ+ Drop-in Pilot Program, which will run consistently once a fortnight at both Katoomba and Springwood ensuring that the program is accessible for all young LGBTIQ+ people across the Blue Mountains, $9,420.

WestWords
For their WestWords LGBTIQ+ Writers Group, which will run fortnightly sessions in Western Sydney with guest facilitators who will be relatable role models for participants. The sessions will be available online and in person, ensuring that it is accessible, and will equip participants with essential writing and creative skills, $5,500.

Queer Family Inc
For their project Q Teas, based in Mullumbimby, is a support project which includes drop-ins, and peer led programs. All programs are 100% peer led and provide space and social support, $10,000.

Trans and Gender Diverse Sharing Circle
This project aims to train and financially support up to 4 POC and TGD peers to facilitate sharing circles in Sydney, and to build skills and experience in peer support and group facilitation, $10,000.

ACON
For their Harm Reduction Heros Program, which will recruit community members to upskill through workshops, supply educational resource distribution, further train existing volunteers, and further develop their Pivot Point website. This programs aim is to help reduce the harm caused by alcohol and other drugs within the LGBTIQ+ community, $5,000.


Who we supported in FY23!

With our friends at Pride Foundation Australia and SpencerMaurice, we were again able to deliver additional targeted grants. In FY22/23 they were focused on LGBTIQ+ people with disability, as well as regional LGBTIQ+ communities.

Those projects are:

Two projects that focus on supporting young LGBTIQ+ young people in Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains:

AllOut! Blacktown Outreach and Support Program  - a program designed to help young people come together, connect, learn new skills - $8,250, and;

Mountains Youth Services Team - who will host a series of LGBTIQ+ Movie Nights and an Educational Resource Library - $8,030.

A program focused on supporting Trans community members, their families and friends, the lIlawarra Shoalhaven Gender Alliance - Trans & Friends Festival which will be held in November 2023 in Wollongong - $8,250.

A program designed to support LGBTIQ+ creative voices find a platform in regional NSW, through the New England Regional Art Museum - Winter Blooming Festival - $8,250.

An awareness raising project presented through dance theatre production, developed and delivered by LGBTIQ+ South Asian community members in the greater Parramatta area - Nautanki Theatre Company - Bunty Barber - $8,250.

A state-wide community engagement project by Inclusive Rainbow Voices Voices to listen to LGBTIQ+ Victorians with Disability, so that their priorities set the agenda - $20,000 joint grant with Pride Foundation Australia.

A project focused on mental health in regional LGBTIQ+ communities through the Lake Macquarie Suicide Prevention and Support Network - Windows of Hope  -  $20,000 joint grant with SpencerMaurice.
